Aspiring teenaged authors…there’s one in every country and and probably even every state of the the US! Well, after reading such books as Eragon and Prophecy of the Stones, some of those authors are scared to publish in fear of public humiliation and criticism. Well, I’m not! Fourteen years old and I’ve already finished the manuscript of my first novel; did I mention I’ve also queried it to Knopf? I’m saying this to brag, but just to show you that I ain’t no quitter! I’ve been interested in writing since, well, forever, and you can take a wild guess at what my genre is. Go on. Guess. Did you say fantasy? Well….you’re kinda right, kinda wrong. I’m into urban fantasy.

Seriously, I can’t stand hearing teens talk in the olden days about stones and kings and dragons guarding maidens. Blech. Not saying that the writers are awful, but it’s so tiresome to see and hear this! What the teens of today need is a good kick in the…arse…with a fantasy novel that includes what they’d expect (ie., Elves, dragons, etc.) while at the same time giving them characters thay can actually understand! And that’s exactly what I’ve tried to do.

When I was twelve (YOU PEOPLE: Oh crap, she’s jogging down memory lane!!), I got an idea for a fantasy book. It sucked, simply put. By the time I was thirteen, I’d revised it so much that it wasn’t even the same story, and then I began to write it. 1½ years and 120,000 words later, my young adult urban fantasy novel was complete!!!! I was fourteen at that time, and honey, I still am! *snap,snap,snap* Oh, dear lord, I hafta stop that…

Anway, It’s called Lineage and about a month ago, I sent a query off to Atheneum Books for Young Readers. And y’know what? OF COURSE, I got my first rejection letter! I can’t exactly quote it, but it said something like “It’s material isn’t appropriate”, and so I sent it off for the second time. I’m still waiting…wasting away…totally unnecessary drama…Hey, did I mention that I love that show Traveler? Eh-hem…so as any other writer would do, I started this blog so people can ask me random questions and so I can keep in touch with people like me. Plus I like, need premature fans!!!
